In my work with individuals and teams, I use mindfulness and the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, which centers on learning skills toward living a full and meaningful life in pursuit of your values.
I work with performers of all types, from athletes to business owners, health professionals, and more, to build skills that can enable you to perform more consistently at a high level and increase the overall enjoyment of the performance.
My process includes changing your relationship to your thoughts, emotions, and physiology — while directing attention in a way that is performance relevant, present-moment focused, and within your control.
Worked seven years with the U.S. Army Special Operations Forces at Fort Bragg, NC, training mental performance and human engagement skills.
In high school, I spent 4 years living in Guatemala.
“I highly recommend working with John Evans at BLND Health. John authentically cares about the health and well-being of his clients and went above and beyond in supporting me on my personal journey to better mental health (and simply a better life in general). John’s approach can be applied and integrated into daily life, which, for me, has enabled positive and long-lasting change.”

What brought you to this line of work?
I always knew I wanted a helping profession. And I wanted mental health and performance to be about growth, development, and living a rich, meaningful life—instead of a diagnosis with a treatment or cure. As a therapist, coach, and consultant, I use this approach to focus on my clients’ strengths and teaching them skills to live better everyday lives.
You do a lot of values work with your clients. What are your personal values?
Connection, understanding, competition, openness, and adventure.
