Aspen Ankney, MA, PhD Candidate, CMPC

Aspen works with clients to help them achieve performance excellence, to reconnect to the enjoyment they once found in their chosen domain, and reacquaint themselves with their meaningful pursuits of sport, life, and work.

“Along the journey to performance excellence, we  encounter different obstacles which can distort our path, and sometimes we need to learn new ways to carry that difficult stuff and to refine our natural ability to engage in the present moment.”

Aspen is a Certified Mental  Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.  She holds a master’s degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver in Colorado. She has consulted with a variety of performers including winter  sport athletes, adaptive sport athletes, team and individual sports, and professionals from  medical, legal, and business domains.

Aspen has an expertise in endurance and extreme performance, utilizing mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help  performers engage in practice and elite competition more successfully. Most recently, she consulted for 6 years with the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Forces, helping Soldiers develop the psychological flexibility to respond most effectively  in dynamic and evolving performance contexts. She also specializes in developing  performance enhancement strategies for medical communities and helping leaders design  training and performance environments which elicit the best skills from their teams.

Aspen is completing a PhD in Exercise Science at the University of Idaho with her research focused on measuring interventions to help organizations understand the impact of  incorporating mental skills training.
